Lynn Stoner: A Mission of Service in DFW

Lynn Stoner: Education and Finance

For Lynn Stoner, service has always been part of the mission. After spending 20 years in the United States Air Force, Lynn has entered a new chapter as a Retirement & Income Specialist and independent, non-captive insurance professional. While the uniform may be different, her commitment to helping people has remained remarkably consistent.

Today, Lynn works with individuals, families, veterans, educators, and business owners to help them better understand their financial options and develop strategies designed around retirement income, wealth preservation, asset protection, tax-efficient planning, and legacy planning.

Her philosophy is simple: start with the person, not the product.

“As a Retirement & Income Specialist, I help people answer one central question: How do we protect what you’ve built and position it to support the life you want?”

That mission-focused approach comes directly from her military experience. Lynn believes every successful mission begins by understanding the objective, evaluating available resources, identifying potential risks, and developing a plan. She brings that same mindset to financial conversations.

Her goal is not simply to introduce financial products. It is to educate first, listen carefully, simplify complicated concepts, and help clients understand the strategies that may fit their individual circumstances. Lynn’s own journey into financial services began with a fellow Air Force veteran who had served in the same career field. The introduction opened the door to an industry Lynn initially knew very little about.

That realization became an important part of her mission. Lynn admits that before entering the industry, she viewed life insurance much like many people do: protection that provides money to a family after someone dies. As she learned more, she discovered the broader role certain types of life insurance may play, including living benefits, cash value, protection, and legacy strategies.

“It’s called life insurance, not death insurance,” she says.

Lynn Enjoys Fort Worth’s Community

That discovery reinforced her belief that financial education matters. Lynn understands that people should not feel embarrassed because they do not know the terminology or understand every financial option available to them. Instead, she wants to meet people where they are and help them move forward.

Her journey has not been without challenges. When Lynn entered the industry, some people questioned her decision and told her to quit.

Rather than allowing criticism to determine her future, she continued learning, becoming licensed, building relationships, and developing her expertise. She also recognizes that building a new career at 55 comes with its own uncertainties. But Lynn says her struggles have helped her better understand the people she serves.

“I’m not trying to portray myself as someone who has always had everything figured out,” she explains. “I’m someone who learned and decided to turn what I learned into a way to serve others.” Since moving to the DFW area in March 2020, Lynn has fallen in love with the region. Originally from Virginia, she appreciates Fort Worth’s small-town community feeling while enjoying the energy, diversity, and opportunities of Dallas. And, of course, she loves the food.

She is also becoming increasingly involved in Fort Worth’s community. One upcoming project she is excited about is VetWork Fort Worth, an initiative designed to connect veteran-owned businesses and nonprofits, create visibility, encourage collaboration, and provide opportunities for veterans to grow. For Lynn, it represents another opportunity to serve.

Her story is still being written. She is building her business, expanding her network, learning every day, and looking toward the future with the same determination that guided her military career. “Retirement is a mission,” Lynn says. “Every mission needs a plan.” And for Lynn Stoner, the mission is just getting started.
