A Poem By Raven Jordan
Until I unzip that very back pocket
Of my black purse
It can be easy sometimes to forget
the charm, the white pendant
That the magic hat man
gave me in Deep Ellum
The pendant image?
A card
The card?
The Empress
Representing fertility and creativity
Without any personal fertility, rather
Let me have the creativity this city births
From Uptown heights to Downtown streets
Where ambition and momentum meet
in commerce, in artistry, in progress proud
North Texas, DFW will always be as it
remains, the Lone Star's bustling heart
